Description
.406 EXTERNAL RETAINING RING PHOSPHATE is a phosphate coating applied to external retaining rings to enhance their corrosion resistance and prevent fretting. The coating is typically 0.0002-0.0005 inches thick and is applied through a chemical immersion process. The phosphate coating provides a barrier between the ring and the surrounding environment, protecting it from moisture, oxygen, and other corrosive elements. It also reduces friction and wear between the ring and other components, preventing fretting and extending the life of the assembly. The coating is RoHS compliant and meets the requirements of MIL-DTL-16232.
